As quoted by Aishah radhiyallahu ‘anha, she says: Rasulullah S.A.W spoke; “Dear Aishah, stray away from trivial deeds (and in the words quoted; ‘sins’). Because there will be demand from Allah to such deeds.”
This was a reminder from Prophet Muhammad S.A.W to Aishah. As it is a reminder to all of us that we should not take it easy when it comes to the minor sins we deem trivial. No matter how big or small our sins may be, we must remember for any sin we commit there is punishment waiting for us in the hereafter. We must fear the torture that awaits us if those little sins gather and build becoming one big horrible sin.
There was once an ascetic, Bilal bin Sa’d who said:
“Do not look only at the size of your error. But also to whom you defy.”
When we commit minor sins we tend to forget that Allah takes account for all those misdeeds and they will be magnified. They start as small mistakes that we brush off and turns into something so big that only Allah alone may forgive.
A poet once said:
“all events begins from the view
flames coming from a small disadvantage
how much damage the view done the perpetrators
broken like an arrow without a bow and string”
flames coming from a small disadvantage
how much damage the view done the perpetrators
broken like an arrow without a bow and string”
This shows that by avoiding the minor sins we are all the more protected from committing the major sins. However, we petty humans never stray from mistakes. So we must always repent for all the sins we’ve committed.
“if you avoid major sins of the sins that you may not have done it, WE would remove the stains of (minor sins) and we add you to of the Noble (paradise)” (An-Nisa’:31)
